iOS 7 Improves Siri’s Ability To Pronounce Names Correctly

Ever since Apple announced iOS 7 a few weeks ago, we’ve been hearing some additional information in regards to the company’s upcoming iOS update. We already know iOS 7 will tattle when an unofficial Lightning cable is detected, and may offer deeper integration with LinkedIn, but Apple looks like it’s making some serious improvements to Siri as the service will now learn how to properly pronounce certain words.

If Siri has trouble pronouncing a name when after the user says the name for the first time, it’ll ask for assistance in the name’s proper pronunciation. You will also be able to say “That’s not how you pronounce [name]” which will have Siri go through a learning process. When this phase is initiated, Siri will ask you to say the name, then presenting a few options on how it thinks it’s pronounced. Once you choose the correct pronunciation, it’ll be saved and will always try to offer the correct pronunciation.
