The first rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom emerged a couple of months ago, when it was reported that the handset will receive model number SM-C115. Now, the technical specifications of Samsung’s camera phone leaked online, after the handset was spotted in GFXBench logs.
According to GFXBench database, the handset will arrive with a 720p 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display (which is most likely the same unit that was fitted on the Galaxy S3 two years ago), while being powered by the new hexa-core Samsung Exynos chipset that was introduced with the Galaxy Note 3 Note. The benchmark shows that the processor is clocked at 1.3 GHz, but we are most likely looking at the frequency of the four Cortex A7 cores (which are used for basic tasks and better battery management) not at the dual-core Cortex A15 which should run 1.7 GHz.
The same benchmark shows that the handset will arrive with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of native storage, NFC support, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.
Last year’s Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom didn’t impress when it came to hardware, but it seems that the Korean phone maker aims to make the S5 Zoom a more powerful handset. Compared to its predecessor it has a higher resolution camera (16 MP on S4 Zoom), a higher resolution display (540 x 960 pixels on S4 Zoom), more internal storage (only 8 GB on S4 Zoom), and one of Samsung’s latest processing solutions.
